We all have a journey. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Live it.
It all started as I was going through my own weight loss journey, being overweight was an
embarrassing and uncomfortable time for me. When I decided to do something about it I
joined a gym. It was scary, I was unsure of a lot of things so kept to the cardio equipment as
I felt it was my only option for fat loss.
I did manage to lose the first 30kgs through obvious lifestyle changes, eating less and of better quality foods, reducing drinking and going to the gym at least 3 times a week.
When the weight came off, I felt better but it wasn’t quite right. I felt weak and soft (skinny
fat) as I now know because of losing the weight through only cardio and no weights!
Mistakes were made but I eventually realised I needed help. I got a PT and man what a
difference! He knew everything! Haha. Learning about the weights was amazing, feeling muscles I didn’t know I had, feeling strong as my lifts improved... it was addicting! I became fascinated with how it all worked and all of the different ways we could change our shape with strength training.
I began thinking about it all day at work and researching it in my down time. It felt so good I just wanted to share it with as many people as I could. So I did! I quit my job to study to become a PT in 2013 and haven’t looked back.
I have done nothing but learn more about the human body, how it works, responds and
behaves under different circumstances for the last 10yrs. I have studied the nutrition side of
it, another whole world of learning about just what is possible for your everyday as well as
life long health. Injury rehab is another huge one, as we are all just a little bit broken! There
are just so many ways to make our lives more energetic, enjoyable and better in every way!
It is a deeply rewarding career, it sounds cheesy and I suppose it is, but I love helping
people!
I love teaching strength and seeing the confidence that comes with it, I love
teaching self love through discipline and watching peoples lives become more efficient and
enjoyable. I love it when people feel better from the inside out and share their happiness
with the people they care about.
This is the life I want to live and the knowledge I want to pass on to as many people as I can.
A healthy life is a happy life.
